Grief Response
Deep intense sorrow grips our hearts when we lose someone we love. Our pain brings uncontrollable tears that flow from every thought of our loss.
Grief is a multi-faceted response. There is physical (we cannot eat or sleep), cognitive (the process of remembering), behavior (bad manners or anger), social (isolate or become an introvert), and philosophical (calm and composed).
Everyone struggles with their own pain from grief. It is difficult to determine how death will affect our mental state therefore we must be consciously aware of the danger that comes with a grieving heart.
Often, depression accompanies emotional and psychological trauma from a grieving heart. A person will create a protective shell and hide behind a façade because the pain is hard to face.
The problem of never treating a grieving heart sometimes results in an addictive personality. Addiction comes in many forms of abuse which can be detrimental to someone afflicted with a grieving heart.
In every situation, we must call on the Lord in prayer. Prayer invites God to take control and provide comfort for our grieving hearts.
